The team here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware County is delighted that we're expand with two new amazing women: Patty Marti and Andrea Davidson! They are respectively stepping into the roles of Operations Manager and Match Support Specialist. We're excited to serve Delaware County alongside them. Read their stories:
Patty Marti was born and raised in Muncie and has lived here her entire life. She considers the most rewarding part of her life as her family: two grown sons, who along with their wives have gifted Patti with five amazing grandchildren.
Previous to stepping into her position at Big Brothers Big Sisters, Patty's most recent employment was with the WorkOne System in Muncie as a Career Advisor. Her employment with this organization ended in July 2017 after more than 25 years of employment. As a Career Advisor, Patty was most definitely a part of a mentoring system as she worked with individuals to meet their employment and training goals, either through direct employment referrals or classroom training.
Patty describes herself as "very much a people person" and loves working with the public. She has seen a lot of success through her years of counseling and mentoring individuals who only needed a hand up in life to change their lives forever.
Patty is "so happy and proud to become an employee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware County. I have always admired and appreciated the service provided in this county and I am a firm believer that mentoring works best if it is started at a very early age and continues through a life time." Welcome to the team, Patty!
Andrea Davidson was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University and earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Fancy word for: Elementary Education). Her husband accepted a student ministry position in Winchester, so they have been in the East Central Indiana area since January 2018.
Andrea spent four years as an elementary school teacher in Dallas. During that time, she saw the importance of having an adult to look up to and how much this impacted her students’ lives. She has done various volunteer work with youth groups, children’s classes at her church, and tutoring children in a domestic violence safe house. Through these experiences, she knows that volunteers (and parents!) can often feel unqualified or lost in how to handle difficult situations. She is looking forward to supporting the families and volunteers here at Big Brothers Big Sisters through all the ups and downs these relationships will face.
Teaching children to be confident, life-long learners, and independent thinkers are passions of Andrea’s. She is excited to partner with parents and volunteers to support children and change their lives for the better. Andrea has seen the significant impact mentors have on a child’s life and is excited to have a front row seat to the lives that will change here at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware County. We're so happy to have you, Andrea!
Big Brothers Big Sisters knows Patty and Andrea will do amazing work in our community and are a strong fit for what we do. We so appreciate their passion and look forward to experiencing all the passion they have to contribute.
