2009 Big Brother of the Year
Spencer Ozbun
Take one seventeen year old that was fortunate enough to grow up in a loving supportive family and wanted to pay it forward to another child, and you have the beginning of four children's lives that will forever be changed. This Big Brother not only came into the program but recruited his dad, mom, and brother. This is one of many reasons why he was chosen as our Big Brother of the Year.

Take one seventeen year old that was fortunate enough to grow up in a loving supportive family and wanted to pay it forward to another child, and you have the beginning of four children's lives that will forever be changed. This Big Brother not only came into the program but recruited his dad, mom, and brother. This is one of many reasons why he was chosen as our Big Brother of the Year.He and his Little Brother Austen were matched in December 2006. Three years later, and now a student at Ball State, he and Austen have built a strong friendship. Through their time spent together Austen is learning many life lessons and has become a part of the Ozbun family as have all the Littles.
In order to teach his Little Brother about business and responsibility, this past summer the two came up with a business plan, took the idea of placing a vending machine selling M&M's, Skittles, and bubble gum to a local business owner at Vanilla Greens, and now have their first machine in place. Earlier in the summer Spencer got Austen a scholarship and then raised the additional money for his camping supplies so Austen could attend a summer camp.
This Big Brother leads by example and understands the importance of working as a team with agency staff, always working towards achieving the best outcomes for his Little Brother. Angela, Austen's mom, says that Spencer is the best thing that has ever happened to her son. Austen said it all when he said, "I hope you can be my Big Brother forever."
